Choose from the key areas of allied health, medical and exercise sciences, community and health services, and transport and safety sciences.
Study your way
A number of our health courses and units provide allow you to choose between on-campus or online study, while some provide a mix of on-campus and online delivery methods. CQUniversity is an established provider of online study and is able to offer a number courses and units in this mode that have not traditionally been available, such as nursing, medical science, exercise and sport sciences, accident forensics, paramedic science and more.

Work integrated learning
CQUniversity’s health courses and units feature work integrated learning, or learning on the job. For some courses this may be referred to as clinical placement.
You may be required to complete unit undertakings in real‑life workplaces, allowing you to put learning directly into practice. This hands-on, project-based learning is one reason CQUniversity graduates are in such high demand by employers.
Quality facilities ensure learning is delivered in context, taught in a similar setting to real-world situations including exceptional simulation environments. New facilities including state-of-the-art technology for fitness and body function testing offer exercise and sport sciences students sophisticated training. Nursing students have access to fully equipped labs replicating a real hospital ward, while medical imaging and medical sonography are taught from new purpose-built multi-million dollar labs. The new CQUniversity Health Clinic at CQUniversity Rockhampton also provides clinical learning experiences to students.
Completing the Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) Accredited Minor provides you with Exercise Science membership through Exercise and Sports Science Australia.
You will specialise in the design, implementation and evaluation of exercise and physical activity. Upon completion of this Minor you may gain employment in hospitals, community health units, workplaces, gymnasiums, education, sporting teams, sports institutes and academies, strength and conditioning and research.
The Liberal Studies Minor allows you to choose from your own selection of elective courses, providing you with the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills in a specialised area that suits your interests and career goals.
Occupational Health and Safety
Expand upon your strong science base and gain expertise in workplace health and safety by studying the Occupational Health and Safety Minor. During your studies you will learn important aspects related to safe work environments and worker health and build upon your core exercise and sport science knowledge. Completing this Minor prepares you to gain employment in a range of industries, dealing with exercise, rehabilitation, ergonomics and health, including government agencies and private business.
If you are interested in a teaching in physical education then the Physical Education minor may be for you.
Upon completion you will have well developed knowledge and skills in core exercise and sport science disciplines as well as an understanding of the important aspects of education and expertise in a secondary teaching discipline.
The Sport Management Minor may provide you with a pathway if you are interested in the business aspect of the sport or exercise industry. During your studies you will gain skills in core management areas that are fundamental to business operation. Upon completion you will be prepared to gain employment in regional and state sports organisations, government agencies related to exercise, sport, physical activity, and health, professional sports teams, media and private business.
