WHY STUDY AT CQUNIVERSITY

We offer a range of engineering education and training options to suit a variety of different career goals.

Wide range of options

Whether you are from a trade or technical background seeking to advance your skills, someone looking to commence a career as a professional engineer or an industry professional in search of further education or research opportunities, our courses give you the flexibility to choose from key industry areas including civil, electrical, mechanical, mechatronic, and mining engineering, and engineering geology.

Project-based learning

Many of CQUniversity’s engineering courses incorporate project-based learning, meaning you will undertake real-life engineering tasks, allowing you to put your theoretical knowledge into practice.

Through this innovative approach to learning, you’ll be able to combine the technical knowledge you acquire during your study with teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills that are required for today’s workforce.

Up-to-date and industry relevant

MAJORS

Civil Engineering
As a Civil Engineer you will be involved with structures and systems such as roads, water supply, bridges, buildings and tunnels. Civil Engineers are responsible for the design and construction of all our transport systems, the design and management of our gas and water supply, sewerage systems, harbours, airports and railways. They also plan, design and test the structures of private and public buildings and facilities.

Electrical Engineering
Electrical Engineers are involved in areas such as electricity generation and distribution, communication systems, control systems and electronic equipment. As an Electrical Engineer you may plan the design of power stations and power equipment, design electrical systems, produce drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) and make decisions on the best type and arrangement of electrical circuits, transformers, circuit-breakers, transmission lines and equipment.

Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical Engineers are involved with machines that ‘move’ such as trucks, trains, ships, planes and manufacturing equipment. Mechanical Engineers may perform tasks such as designing new machines and equipment that meet their client’s needs and budgets, taking into account factors such as cost, availability of materials, strength and maintenance requirements, and the end-user of the equipment.

Mining Engineering
As a Mining Engineer you will typically be involved with the extraction and processing of minerals and earth’s resources, such as coal, gas, precious stones and metals. As a Mining Engineer you may work with geologists to investigate and extract resources from the earth by planning the safest and most cost-effective way of doing so.

Mechatronic Engineering
Mechatronic Engineering combines mechanical, electrical and computer engineering to create systems that include both movement and intelligence. As a Mechatronic Engineer you may be involved in the design and maintenance of machinery and gadgets such as aircraft, robots, small electronic devices and plant machinery.
