Academic requirements may vary between courses. The following details the Australian academic requirements necessary to study at CQUniversity, as well as alternative entry options and recognition of prior learning. CQUniversity recognises qualifications obtained from overseas for entry into our courses.

An approved university foundation studies or formal Australian Certificate IV can also be taken to meet this entry requirement.
If you have successfully completed a certificate, diploma or advanced diploma (or equivalent) you may gain advanced standing into your CQUniversity course.
|Graduate certificate, graduate diploma and masters by coursework||Completion of a bachelor degree with the equivalent to an Australian pass grade average in the final two terms, from a recognised higher education institution.|
|Masters by research||Completion of an honours degree or a bachelor degree at a high level of academic performance in a relevant discipline.|

Our pathway options include certificates and diplomas, as well English language courses offered by our CQUEnglish Language Centres located in Brisbane, Melbourne, Rockhampton and Sydney. These pathways prepare you both academically and personally for university studies and your future career.
Completion of the below diploma courses will provide pathways into the second year of the related bachelor courses.
- Diploma of Arts year 2 of CQUniversity Bachelor of Arts
- Diploma of Business Studies year 2 of CQUniversity Bachelor of Business
- Diploma of Digital Media year 2 of CQUniversity Bachelor of Digital Media
- Diploma of Information and Communications Technology year 2 of CQUniversity Bachelor of Information Technology
- Diploma of Music year 2 of CQUniversity Bachelor of Music
- Diploma of Project Management year 2 of CQUniversity Bachelor of Business (Management major); or year 2 of CQUniversity Bachelor of Accounting
We also have partnerships and articulation arrangements with selected external providers in Australia and overseas. If you already hold a qualification from one of our external providers, you may use your qualification to gain entry into selected courses at CQUniversity.
If you have previously studied at another institution, you may be eligible for credit, also known as recognition of prior learning (RPL), credit exemption and advanced standing. This will reduce the number of units you need to complete to gain your qualification.
